Ensemble Old and New - Music for Reflection

TEMPO RUBATO, 34 BREESE ST BRUNSWICK
A wondrous collaboration with this newest of ensembles alongside Rachael Beesley (violin) and Rob Cossom (percussion), EON presents works by J.S. Bach, Pärt, Edwards, Abbott, Ravenscroft, Leek, and Cossom. Titled 'Music for Reflection', this concert promises a soundworld of nocturnal echoes and colourful imaginings. Breaking the Waves with Opera Australia

Dubbed by Time Out as “Brooklyn’s post-millennial Mozart”, composer Missy Mazzoli is one of the most exciting composers working anywhere in the world. Her adaptation of Lars von Trier’s 1996 film has been acclaimed as one of the 21st century’s best operas. Thrilled to be playing Principal Cello in this one-show-only event.

English Eccentrics with Victoria Opera

Where English wit and Australian larrikinism converge, English Eccentrics offers a whimsical glimpse into a gallery of thirty-nine eccentric characters from English society. Imagine the love child of Monty Python and a high-camp Jane Austen. Composed by Malcolm Williamson and with a stellar cast and ensemble.

Melbourne Baroque Orchestra welcomes international cello star Mime Brinkmann in two concerts. I can't wait to join her in Vivaldi's riotous Double Concerto. Program includes Vivaldi G major Concerto, a cello quartet by Corrette, works by Handel. All performed on historical instruments. Tickets $50 / $35 / $20

The Hollywood Connection at Como House and Garden

A rare chance to hear music in this historic venue, the Como Ballroom plays host to a program showcasing composers Leonard Bernstein, Nino Rota, Andre Previn (with the stunning Four Songs based on poems by Nobel laureate Toni Morrison), Erich Korngold and Australian composer, Luke Severn. Collaborating with my fellow resident of the Inner North, this program delves into contemporary repertoire for the mellifluous combination of cello and guitar. Including duos from Cuban composer Leo Brouwer, Welsh Folk Songs arranged by Steve Goss and fantastic original works by guitarist/composer Ken Murray. Sherry and canapes after the concert! UKRAINIAN CHAMBER MUSIC

A captivating program of chamber music by Ukrainian composers, I'll be joining musical friends violinist Markiyan Melnychenko and pianist Stewart Kelly for the lush, early 20th century trio by Vasyl Barvinsky, full of evocative Ukrainian folk melodies and dances.
