Woodend Winter Arts Festival

A yearly pilgrimage, this festival of music and ideas is a Victorian institution, lovingly directed by Jacqueline Ogeil and John O'Donnell. Program will be announced soon!
Fish Creek / East Melbourne / Daylesford mini-tour
Experiencing Schubert's momentous work on gut strings will introduce audiences to the vivid colours and expressive sensitivities that Schubert intended, bringing it to new life. With brilliant colleagues Anna McMichael and Jennifer Kirsner (violins) and Meg Cohen (viola).
Wyselaskie Yuma Auditorium, 29 College Crescent, Parkville
Reuniting with intrepid colleagues violinist Racheal Beesley and percussionist Rob Cossom, Ensemble Old and New invites audiences into a reflective sound world, with a diverse mix of repertoire from Bach to Ross Edwards, Cossom, Henryson and Messiaen. Full program announced in due course.
Premiere performance of the Imaginista Quartet alongside internationally renowned oboist, Emma Black. With Zoe Black and Liisa Pallandi (violins), Caroline Henbest (viola) playing on historical instruments in string quartets by Haydn, and virtuosic oboe quintets by Boccherini and Myslivecek. Tickets $35/25

Firebird Trio at the Brunswick Beethoven Festival
Brunswick Uniting Church, 212 Sydney Road, Brunswick
In our first performance for 2025, Firebird Trio presents the iconic Ravel Piano Trio alongside some of Benjamin Britten's Sea Interludes arranged by our pianist Benjamin Martin. A quirky neoclassical work by Alfredo Casella and a surprise Beethoven offering complete the program. Tickets $35/25/20 with Full and Half Season passes available.

Baroque violinist Davide Monti defies all the preconceptions of what an early music specialist is. An absolute virtuoso on the violin, Davide improvises like a musician possessed. Joining us are Jacqueline Ogeil on the earliest piano, a Cristofori, in a wonderfully Italian program of Scarlatti, Corelli, Tartini and of course Vivaldi.

Australia's National Chamber Music Competition for secondary students is back. Thrilled that my VCA Secondary School students, Trio Aneres, have been chosen to represent Victoria on the national stage. Proud as punch, and they'll be playing a Mendelssohn trio.

Dialogos with Ken Murray

Continuing the collaboration with guitarist Ken Murray, this free concert includes 'Park of Idols' by Stephen Goss, original works by Ken Murray and the epic 'Dialogos de la isla y el mar' from legendary Cuban composer, Leo Brouwer. Officially 'sold out', just turn up and you'll get in.

Ensemble Old and New - Music for Reflection

A wondrous collaboration with this newest of ensembles alongside Rachael Beesley (violin) and Rob Cossom (percussion), EON presents works by J.S. Bach, Pärt, Edwards, Abbott, Ravenscroft, Leek, and Cossom. Titled 'Music for Reflection', this concert promises a soundworld of nocturnal echoes and colourful imaginings.
