A rare chance to experience Brahms' G major Violin Sonata performed on cello! (in an arrangement by Brahms himself in the cello-friendly key of D major). UKRAINIAN CHAMBER MUSIC
Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Hanson Dyer Hall
A captivating program of chamber music by Ukrainian composers, I'll be joining musical friends violinist Markiyan Melnychenko and pianist Stewart Kelly for the lush, early 20th century trio by Vasyl Barvinsky, full of evocative Ukrainian folk melodies and dances. Collaborating with my fellow resident of the Inner North, this program delves into contemporary repertoire for the mellifluous combination of cello and guitar. Including duos from Cuban composer Leo Brouwer, Welsh Folk Songs arranged by Steve Goss and fantastic original works by guitarist/composer Ken Murray. Sherry and canapes after the concert!
